Where to store the main source file?

Mar 24, 2011 at 12:15 AM

Using Word's bibliography I noticed that Word creates two lists of sources. One "current list" of used sources is saved directly to the file and the second (including all added sources) is saved in the AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Bibliography\Sources.xml
I am wondering if this is a good place for storing this large list of citations? I mean I don't mind storing the file in this location. I just wonder whether the file is auto-loaded every time I open Word (even an empty document) so that it may slow down the editor?

Bibliography stuff only gets loaded on the first access of the tool. As long as you don't use the bibliography tools, it shouldn't influence Word's performance.

This can be seen if you have for example a lot of styles installed. The first time you access the dropdown, Word has to load the styles one by one to populate the list.
